Kazakh taekwondo athletes pocket 18 medals on 1st day of Altaic Cup
Kazakhstan’s taekwondo team won 18 medals on the opening day of the international Altaic Cup tournament in Astana, Qazinform News Agency cites the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Samirkhon Ababakirov (63 kg), Beibarys Kablan (+87 kg), Aisha Adilbekkyzy (62 kg), and Nazym Makhmutova (73 kg) won gold medals.
Among the silver medalists were Tamirlan Tleules (58 kg), Maksat Orynbasar (74 kg), Aidana Kumartayeva (46 kg), Nuray Bauyrzhanova (49 kg), Nodira Akhmedova (53 kg), and Ayaulym Askar (67 kg).
Bronze medalists included Bakhodir Shapulatov (54 kg), Mergen Ganiyev (80 kg), Bauyrzhan Khassenov (+87 kg), Nuraiym Zhumabek (49 kg), Aidana Sundetbay (53 kg), Aruzhan Naimanbayeva (67 kg), Nurly Kenesbek (73 kg), and Aksaule Yerkassymova (+73 kg).
The competition continues on June 23 with youth team events.
Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that Kazakhstan had claimed two medals at the Asian Relay Championships in Shaoxing, China.
