Kazakh surgeons perform unique 9-hour surgery to reattach cut-off fingers
The surgeons of the Batpenov National Scientific Traumatology and Orthopaedics Center performed a unique nine-hour finger reattachment surgery, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the Kazakh Healthcare Ministry.

An 18-year-old patient cut his fingers off in an accident with an electric saw.
Thanks to the cutting-edge surgery microscope and doctors’ skills he had his fingers reattached. They repaired damaged blood vessels, nerves, tendons, and osseous structures of the patient's severed fingers.
This operation serves as a bright example of the world-class medical care provided by the center, Maxut Ibrayev, the head of the microsurgery and hand traumas department of the Batpenov National Scientific Traumatology and Orthopaedics Center, said.
It is noteworthy, it is the sixth successful finger replantation operation carried out in the center.
Besides, neurosurgeons of the regional hospital in Kostanay performed a six-hour-long surgery on cerebral vessels. This surgery is unique in nature since the doctors had to perform an operation on vessels that are less than a hair's width.
