Kazakh Majilis to debate draft law on Kazakhstan Khalyk Kenesi
The deputies of the Kazakh Majilis proceeded to draft the Constitutional Law of Kazakhstan On Kazakhstan Khalyk Kenesi, Qazinform News Agency reports.
The draft law was developed to implement the provisions of the new Constitution.
The project is aimed at strengthening public unity and ensuring dialogue between the state and society.
It defines the legal status, powers, composition, and procedures of the Kazakhstan Khalyk Kenesi (Kazakhstan People’s Council).
Deputies Altai Amanzhol, Natalia Dementyeva, and Yerlan Sairov joined the joint parliamentary commission working on the bill.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev earlier suggested establishing the Khalyk Kenesi to replace the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan and the Ulttyq Qurultay. Work is now underway to clarify the functions and structure of this new political institution.
