Kazakh Majilis adopts draft bill ratifying agreement on CIS countries' response to epidemic emergencies

Deputies of the Majilis of the Kazakh parliament adopted the draft bill ratifying the agreement on cooperation between the CIS member countries on prevention and response to public health emergencies of sanitary epidemiological nature, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

The agreement was signed on October 28, 2022, in the Kazakh capital of Astana.

The document was signed with the aim of creating conditions allowing for cooperation in prevention and elimination of sanitary epidemiological emergencies in the CIS territory, requiring measures for sanitary protection including with the help of special anti-epidemic teams.

According to the social and cultural development committee’s statement, the draft bill does not limit the rights and freedoms of individuals and citizens, granted by the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The agreement is subject to ratification as pursuant to subparagraphs 2 and 7 of article 11 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on international treaties.
