Kazakh, Georgian PMs visit Kazakhstan Railways office

Prime ministers of Kazakhstan and Georgia – Olzhas Bektenov and Irakli Kobakhidze – visited the office of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. The Georgian delegation was introduced the digital solutions in Kazakhstan’s railway sector, Kazinform News Agency reports citing primeminister.kz.

Irakli Kobakhidze was familiarized with the operation of the Unified Digital Window and Smart System in the railway transport. These investment solutions are aimed at simplification of the procedures, reduction of the terms of freight transportation, and ensuring transparency in the railway logistics sector.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and JSC Georgian Railways have already established partnership promoting transit flows and two countries’ economies. The companies also collaborate within the Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd., created to develop multimodal service along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

The sides confirmed their intention to bolster freight transportation using the existing transport and logistics potential, simultaneously unlocking the potential of their ports and terminals.

In 2024, exports from Kazakhstan to Georgia surged by 34%, while transit through Kazakhstan soared by 40% against 2023. The volume of transportation between the  countries in 2024 amounted to 4.7 million tons. In whole, over the past 4 years, transportation along the Kazakhstan-Georgia route has risen 9fold, and along the TMTM – 6fold.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan, Georgia plan to ramp up mutual trade.
