Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin
During the meeting, the heads of state discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda. The President of Kazakhstan paid special attention to the upcoming state visit of the Russian leader to Kazakhstan, Qazinform News Agency learned from the Akorda press service.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked Vladimir Putin for the traditionally warm welcome and congratulated him and all Russians on the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory.
“I am very pleased to see you in Moscow on the eve of the great Victory Day holiday. As the saying goes, it is a holiday with tears in our eyes. We honor the heroes of the bloodiest war in human history. Having defeated fascism, the Soviet state emerged from World War II as a great power and became one of the founding members of the United Nations. We remember this and honor our veterans. Only 57 frontline veterans remain alive in Kazakhstan today who remember the war,” the Head of State emphasized.

The President of Kazakhstan noted that cooperation between the two countries is on the rise and developing dynamically in all areas.
“As for cooperation between our states, we are intensively preparing for your state visit at the end of May. Over the past five years, Russia has remained one of the main investors in Kazakhstan’s economy. Trade relations are developing successfully. According to forecasts, by the end of this year we will confidently surpass the $30 billion mark, which is a good indicator. I would especially like to highlight the development of humanitarian ties between our countries in the field of education. Sirius schools have already begun operating actively in our country, in Almaty, Astana, and other cities. Tourism is also a very important indicator. According to the results of 2025, Russia ranked first in the number of tourists visiting Kazakhstan,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The Head of State expressed confidence that the upcoming summit of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana would be successful, and that the state visit of the Russian President to Kazakhstan would become an event of major political and historical significance.

For his part, Vladimir Putin noted Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s personal contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.
“For our peoples, and for us personally, this is truly a grand occasion, perhaps the most important holiday. The fact that you found it possible to come to Moscow and be with us these days is the best proof of the level of relations between Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. To a significant extent, this is happening thanks to you and your personal contribution to the development of interstate ties,” the Russian leader said.
During the meeting, the heads of state also exchanged views on current regional and international issues.

Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev would take part in ceremonial events in Moscow marking the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
