Investments in Kazakhstan soar to 6.7 trillion tenge

Capital investments in Kazakhstan reached 6.74 trillion tenge in January-May 2026 that is 7% more against the same period of the previous year, Qazinform News Agency reports.

According to the National Statistics Bureau, the growth is driven by industry and construction projects as well as the private sector.

Most investments fall on small enterprises up to 3.74 trillion tenge, large businesses account for 2.17 trillion tenge in investments and medium enterprises for 828.5 billion tenge

Together, large and medium businesses account for nearly half of all investments.

The highest growth was recorded in Ulytau region with investments growing by 2.5 times.

Strong increases were seen in Zhambyl, Turkistan, Almaty, and Abai regions.

Declines were reported in Zhetisu, Mangistau, Karaganda regions and Shymkent.

Astana (12.4%) and Almaty (11.4%) lead by share in the total amount.

60.1% of investments were channeled to construction and capital repair, 35.1% to machinery, equipment and transport.

Smaller shares in agriculture, communications, education, and healthcare. Notably, education investments dropped sharply, with a physical volume index of 27.1%.

Almost half of investments were directed to industry, including mining and metallurgy, followed by real estate transactions and transport and logistics, up to 19.3% and 16% correspondingly.

Earlier Qazinform reported, Kazakhstan also plans to attract 154.7 billion yen in concessional loans from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to support priority economic measures.
