International Jazz Holiday kicked off in Almaty
Mike del Ferro (Holland), the Merry Poppins (Austria), Christoph Bach Quartet (Hungary), Misha Tsyganov Trio (U.S.) Almaty Jazz Band and night House (Kazakhstan) take part in the festival.
More than 200 eminent jazz musicians visited Almaty for the entire history of festivals. Among them are William Cepeda group (USA), Willem Broker Orchestra (Holland), Gary Crosby and Abram Williams (UK), Jean Renno (France), Shamarr Allen & Underdawgs (USA), David Helbok (Austria), Das Kapital (Germany), Didier Lockwood and Francois (France), the band Djabe (Hungary), Lucas Neagle (Switzerland) and others.
The organizers of the festival are Jazz School Director, founder of jazz festivals in Kazakhstan Tagir Zaripov and project manager Karlygash Makatova supported by Almaty city administration, the diplomatic missions of France, Hungary, Austria, Holland, Alliance of France and the French Foreign Ministry.
The festival will end on April 5. Following the event, Almaty musicians will perform in Istanbul, where under the UN decision, the World Jazz Day will be held on April 30 this year.
