Internal Affairs Minister briefs President on crime reduction efforts
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov, Qazinform News Agency learned from the Akorda press service.
The President was briefed on the crime situation in the country and the implementation of the tasks set to the internal affairs agencies.
According to Sadenov, from January to May 2026, the number of registered crimes reduced by 9% compared to the same period last year. The number of offenses has decreased across all major categories, while crime solvency rate surged.
During the reporting period, 1,685 cold cases were solved.
A total of 574 fugitives evading justice were located, including 89 abroad
Sadenov also reported on efforts to combat cybercrime, drug-related crimes, organized crime, and extremism. A comprehensive package of measures is being implemented to dismantle criminal groups, protect citizens from emerging threats, and strengthen international cooperation in the field of security.
The President set a number of directives to ensure practical implementation of the Law and Order principle, as well as to enhance public safety and maintain law and order across the country.
Earlier, it was reported that the President had been briefed on energy projects, Alatau City development.
