Head of State briefed on energy projects, Alatau City development

The Head of State was briefed on the results of the Alatau City Roadshow organized in the People's Republic of China.

According to Kanat Bozumbayev, 20 events and meetings were held as part of the international presentation, resulting in the signing of 30 agreements and memorandums worth $6.4 billion. The investment opportunities of Alatau City were presented during meetings with Shenzhen Mayor Qin Weizhong, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, and the leadership of major international companies.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also received an update on work plans following his recent working trip to the Almaty region.

The Head of State was briefed on projects in the water resources sector, including the modernization of hydraulic structures and the construction of new reservoirs and canals.

Additionally, progress on the national project Modernization of the Energy and Utility Sectors was discussed. This year, a record 1.1 trillion tenge will be invested in upgrading housing and utility infrastructure — the highest amount since independence. Funding will be provided through loans from domestic and international financial institutions. These measures are expected to reduce utility network depreciation to 40 percent within three years.

The Head of State emphasized the need for widespread involvement of domestic manufacturers in energy and utility infrastructure modernization projects.

Furthermore, the President ordered that close control be exercised over the growing season, especially in the southern regions

The importance of developing a sustainable model for Alatau City's growth and creating a favorable environment for attracting global capital and fostering innovation was also noted at the meeting. The President entrusted the Government with allocating the required funds for developing Alatau City's infrastructure.

On June 2, during his working trip to the Almaty region, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that Alatau must become a new hub of business activity and innovation.
