«Integrated policy on natural disaster prevention» seminar held in Almaty
The primary purpose of the event was to create new project to provide follow-up JICA technical support to the research mission of Kazakhstan in Autumn 2013.
The workshop was chaired by Seytkazhe Okasov, Chief of Staff of the Emergency Ministry of Kazakhstan, Yuriy Ilyin, First Deputy Akim of Almaty, JICA expert and Hiroyuki Okazaki, advisor on projects' realization in the Republic of Kazakhstan. There were also invited Japanese experts such as Kenji Okazaki, a lecturer from the Kyoto University and Maki Yoshida, a lecturer from the Asian Centre for Disaster Reduction.
The event reviewed and discussed the following topics - "Training on disaster risk management at the community level", "Seismic safety and earthquake damage reduction", "Buildings' seismic reinforcement" and "Opportunities of Kazakhstan for disaster prevention."
