Head of State expresses condolences over death of filmmaker Ardak Amirkulov
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a telegram of condolence to the family and friends of renowned Kazakh filmmaker Ardak Amirkulov, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the Akorda press service.
The Head of State extended condolences on the passing of Ardak Amirkulov, a distinguished figure of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize, and holder of the Order of Qurmet.
"Ardak Amirkulov, who devoted his entire life to the art of cinema, made a significant contribution to the popularization of national culture. As a professional filmmaker, he brought to the screen such notable works as 'The Fall of Otrar,' 'Abai,' and 'Farewell, Gulsary!' – films that have become part of the golden fund of our national cultural heritage. The renowned director enriched Kazakh cinema and mentored a generation of talented filmmakers. The cherished memory of Ardak Amirkulov, who left behind a rich spiritual legacy, will forever remain in our hearts," the telegram reads.
Ardak Amirkulov passed away at the age of 70.
