Great Steppe treasures to be exhibited in France
On November 6, 2024, under the patronage of the presidents of Kazakhstan and France, an exhibition on “Kazakhstan: Treasures of the Great Steppe” from the collection of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Azret Sultan State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve will open at the Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts in Paris, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Ministry of Culture and Information.

The exhibition will run until March 24, 2025.
“Kazakhstan gives special attention to the development of cultural-humanitarian cooperation with the European countries. The popularization of the historical and cultural heritage is one of important areas of interaction.The exhibition of the historical heritage of Kazakhstan at the Museum of Asian Arts, which holds Europe's largest collection of Asian art, including several cultural artifacts of Kazakhstan, will become a landmark event in the world of art,” the Kazakh ministry says.
The goal of the exhibition is to demonstrate centuries-long history and rich culture of Kazakhstan to the European and French public, and to draw attention to the continuity and authenticity of the cultural code of the Kazakh people through the museum artifacts The exposition will showcase 35 rare artifacts dating back to the period from the 3rd millennium BC until the 18th century.
The exposition features five sections:
- Tobol Thinker, the Botai Culture and Horse Domestication;
- The Golden Man. The emergence of the first Saka states;
- Stone Sculptures. Medieval Kazakhstan during the period of Turkic hegemony;
- Lamps from the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi Mausoleum. Development of Islam;
- Kazybek Biy’s chapan. The Kazakh Khanate and the emergence of modern Kazakhstan;
Prominent statesperson and politicians of Kazakhstan and France, foreign diplomats, workers of culture and art, scholars and students as well as Kazakh diaspora in Europe, are expected to participate in the opening of the exhibition.
