From Chronicle to the Future: Atyrau welcomes film lecture series from President’s TV and Radio Complex
The project launched as part of the 30th anniversary of the Kazakh President’s TV and Radio Complex continues its journey across the country’s western regions, Qazinform News Agency reports.
This time the audience in Atyrau was offered to watch the film “Sert” (Promise), narrating the consequences of the flood that occurred in the spring of 2024 in several regions of Kazakhstan, including Atyrau region, focusing on the fate of Kazakhstanis left without shelter and the unity of the nation during this time of trial.
The sudden natural disaster became a serious challenge for the entire country. However, thanks to the support of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the consequences were eliminated in the shortest possible time, and residents were able to return to their homes.
More than 34,000 people received one-time payments, and material damages were compensated for nearly 22,000 families. In just three and a half months, 2,576 houses were built, so that people could return to their normal lives as quickly as possible.
The protagonists of the film note that, in addition to government support, they felt genuine care and compassion from people across the country. During that period, humanitarian aid was sent to all affected regions, and Kazakhstanis did not remain indifferent to the misfortune of others.

As noted by Adilbek Kulaman, chief producer of the Documentary Film Center, four creative teams were formed for the filming of “Sert”. They were sent to different regions affected by the natural disaster, which made it possible to tell in detail about the events of those days.
The film lecture series continued with the screening of the documentary “Aral” about Kuntugan Turgynbayev, who has devoted his entire life to fishing on the Aral Sea.
On the second day of the series, viewers will be presented with two documentaries: “The Man from Kulaly Island” and “Quatty Seriktes”. The first film focuses on the life and work of Pyotr Lupenkov, head of the hydrometeorological station, who worked for many years on Kulaly Island. The second tells the story of the development of strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Japan.
