Foreign inspection checked presence of CFE banned arms in West Kazakhstan

ASTANA. June 21. KAZINFORM - In accordance with the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), a multinational inspection team carried out in West Kazakhstan the military inspection of a "specified area", the press service of the Ministry of Defense reports.

The delegation included military representatives of Italy, Spain, Turkey and Norway.

Organization and support of the foreign delegation has been the responsibility of the Center for control of arms reductions and ensuring inspection activities of the Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan.

Delivery of foreign groups to the site of the inspection has been done by a military transport aircraft of Air Defense Forces of the Kazakh Armed Forces.

Verification was carried out in an area west of the river Oral. The place of the inspection's start was identified to be Uralsk.

The purpose of the activities was to check existence or absence of armaments and equipment limited by the Treaty.

Holding of such supervisions shall be made within the framework of international obligations of Kazakhstan under the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe.
