D. Nazarbayeva proposed to stop using alternative school textbooks as compulsory

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Deputy Chairperson of the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Dariga Nazarbayeva proposed to stop using alternative school textbooks as compulsory.

"We have not reached mutual understanding with the Ministry of Education and Science regarding the format of the basic textbook. Besides, we have not decided to stop using alternative textbooks as compulsory yet," D. Nazarbayeva said summing up the results of the Government Hour with the participation of Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Aslan Sarinzhhipov in the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
She emphasized that she did not mean to totally stop using alternative textbooks. Schools might continue to purchase them for their libraries.
According to her, there is no point spending so much money on purchasing alternative textbooks.
