BEIMBET (BIMUKHAMED) ZHARMAGAMBETULY MAILIN (1894-1938) – an outstanding Kazakh writer, playwright, one of those who contributed to the formation of Kazakh literature.

He was born in Torgay oblast. He orphaned at an early age and was raised by his grandmother. Pursuing his studies, he met Galimzhan Ibragimov, Mazhit Gafuri, Saifi Kudash.
He made great contribution to the creation and development of different genres of drama. He is the author of the plays ?Maidan? (?Front?), ?Taltanbaidyn tartibi? (?Taltanbai?s upbringing?), ?Amangeldi?, ?Zhalbyr?, ?Auyl mektebi? (?Rural school?), ?Neke kiyar? (?Marriage ceremony?), ?Zhassyryn zhiylys? (?Secret meetings?) and etc.
In 1938 B.Mailin was arrested on a charge of anti-revolutionary, bourgeois-nationalist, rebel-terrorist activity. On April 16, 1957 Beimbet Mailin was rehabilitated.
