An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 struck northern Colombia at 16:45 GMT on Wednesday, according to the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, Xinhua reports.

The earthquake was recorded at a depth of approximately 150 kilometers.

The epicenter was initially located at 6.70 degrees north latitude and 73.09 degrees west longitude.

Earlier, Qazinform reported a magnitude 7.4 earthquake had struck near San José del Palmar in western Colombia on August 10.
