Almaty to become financial center of new Silk Road - Kazakh President

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Almaty should become the financial center of the new Silk Road, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev declared at the plenary session of the Astana Economic Forum and the II World Anti-Crisis Conference in Astana on Friday.

The Head of State reminded participants the session the Treaty on Eurasian Economic Union between Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus will be signed in Astana on May 29. Common market of financial services is to be created as a result of the signing of the treaty. A special agency for regulation of the financial market will be set up in Almaty by 2025. "Such factors as favorable investment climate, further development of Islamic financing and common border shared with a number of the Central Asian countries are a solid foundation for the development of Almaty as the financial center of the new Silk Road," President Nazarbayev concluded.
