Almaty takes over victory relay race

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - In Almaty Park named after Panfilov's 28 guardsmen National Security Committee's officers have taken over a symbol of the victory relay race which began on 1 February in the city of Brest (Belarus).

The relay race goes along the borders of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The relay race is timed to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Border Service of the Russian Federation passed the relay race at "Uba" checkpoint, Shemonaikha area, East Kazakhstan region. 2 May at Kordai checkpoint the victory relay race will be passed to Kyrgyz guardsmen. The relay will go through the territory of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. The victory relay race will end at Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow on 28 May.
