Almaty region unveils bust of state and public figure Zamanbek Nurkadilov

A solemn ceremony of unveiling a bust of state and public figure Zamanbek Nurkadilov took place in Kegen village, Almaty region, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

According to the region’s administration, the event was held under the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who previously suggested erecting a monument in Nurkadilov’s home village and a memorial plaque on the house where he lived in Almaty. In addition, the local children’s school of art was named after Zamanbek Nurkadilov.

The bust was installed in front of the Zamanbek Nurkadilov children’s school of art. Attending the ceremony were state and public figures, writers, well-known figures, as well as Nurkadilov’s family members, including his son Kairat Nurkadilov, who unveiled the bust.

In his speech, Nurzhan Kudaibergenov, deputy governor of Almaty region, hailed the contribution of Nurkadilov to the country’s development, pointing out that the monument is a symbol of people’s respect for the state and public figure.

His work will always hold a place in the history of the nation. This monument is a clear expression of respect of our people for the extraordinary man. As a patriot of his nation, he contributed greatly to the strengthening of sovereignty and independence of our homeland. It’s our duty to remember and pass the legacy of such people to future generations. We also express our appreciation to the authors of this monument – young sculptors Aidos Burkitbayev and Timur Nurmukhametov, said Kudaibergenov.

Following the ceremony, 300 copies of the book about the life and work of Zamanbek Nurkadilov ‘Ne tolko o sebe’ (Not Only about Myself) were distributed among the participants.

Opened in 2015, the Zamanbek Nurkadilov children’s school of art offers classes in dombra, kobyz, bayan, traditional singing, variety vocal, choreography, fine art, sculpture and decorative art. Currently, 890 students attend the school’s branches in 12 settlements of the district.
