Almaty Mayor outlines steps to reducing city population

ALMATY. KAZINFORM Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov suggests reducing Almaty population through centres with developed industrial and social infrastructure built around the city, the akimat press service said.
"It is essential to set up centres with strong industrial and social infrastructure vital to daily life and work. The goal is a reverse migration from the Almaty city," he told the meeting on the Almaty agglomeration issues. As stated there, the President of Kazakhstan outlined the agglomeration development issues in his State-of-the-Nation Address: Kazakhstan's way 2050: common goal, common interest, common future". Yessimov charged to put forward proposals on the development of the Almaty agglomeration transport system, infrastructure development of the Almaty core city and its suburbs.
