Almaty, Canada to expand economic cooperation

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - Mayor of Almaty city Akhmetzhan Yessimov has met today with a delegation from Canada led by Chairman of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources of the Canadian House of Commons Leon Benoit, Kazinform has learned from the city administration's press service.

The Almaty mayor said while meeting with the Canadian parliamentarians that Kazakhstan and Canada had established close economic relations. For instance, there are 35 joint enterprises and 50 companies with Canadian capital in the city of Almaty. "A park of innovative technologies that functions as a free economic zone is currently under development in Almaty. If Canadian businessmen are interested, they are welcome to take active part in the project," Mr. Yessimov said at the meeting. The Canadian guests, in turn, reiterated their interest in joint projects and agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in tourism, education, science, economy and technologies.
