“At present, five CHP plants remain in the “red zone.” What measures are being taken to address this issue?” Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov asked at the Government's meeting.

Responding to the question, the vice minister confirmed that five facilities are indeed still classified in the “red zone.”

“We have developed specific action plans for each CHP plant, approved jointly with regional authorities. The Energy Supervision Committee conducts weekly inspections of the repair work at these stations. We have also resolved funding issues, increasing financing by 40%,” he noted.

The Prime Minister also asked about the timeline for taking the facilities out of the “red zone.”

“We plan to move them out of the “red zone” by the end of the year. Currently, assessments are based on four criteria. Going forward, we intend to revise these indicators and expand them to nine, creating a new rating system,” Yesimkhanov said.

It was also noted that today’s government meeting agenda includes reviewing the results of the past heating season and preparations for the upcoming one.

Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that an explosion occurred at the Kazzinc plant, followed by a fire and partial structural collapse.
