3 satellite towns to be built within Almaty agglomeration – Zhamishev

According to him, one of the key issues concerning the development of Almaty agglomeration is the development of the transport component. At the same time, he noted that each of the counter magnet towns surrounding the metropolis would have an independent life, enterprises and infrastructure.

"The agglomeration consists of a mother city and satellite towns that are called counter magnets, Kazinform refers to Primeminister.kz. And if we talk about satellite towns of Almaty, then this is Big Almaty with its satellite towns, where inhabitants could consider Almaty as a possible place of daily visits, a place to work," the minister added.

Development of agglomerations requires a legal framework, in particular, master plans, planning documents, he said.

"In this regard, the Government will prepare a comprehensive plan on the creation of Almaty and Astana agglomerations," Zhamishev concluded.
