Young tennis players compete in Fidelity Open 2012 in Almaty

ALMATY. July 23. KAZINFORM Fidelity Open 2012 Tennis Tournament among children kicked off on Monday (July 23) at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University tennis courts in Almaty.

Two age categories of children aged 12 and 9 compete in this sports event. The tournament has been organized by a network of Fidelity Fitness Clubs and is due to last until July 27.

"The tournament is traditionally held twice a year since 2006 and it brings together participants from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. This year more than 100 children gathered for the event. All matches will be judged by a panel of professionals," said Dmitry Kireyev, presiding judge.

This is the 10th tournament with prize pool of KZT 500 000. The eight best tennis players are to be awarded. In addition, Fidelity Fitness Club will give one-month attendance certificates to the winners.

After the opening ceremony and speeches of welcome young tennis players traditionally enjoyed a huge cake with strawberry.
