Uzbekistan’s president congratulates Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Qurultay elections

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has congratulated Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the successful holding of elections to the country’s renewed parliament, the Qurultay, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the Uzbek president’s press service.

In a letter to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, described the elections as a historic event marking the beginning of a new stage in improving Kazakhstan’s political system, enhancing the efficiency of public administration, and significantly strengthening the role of parliament.

“Active citizen participation in the elections is a clear confirmation of broad public support for the deep constitutional and socio-political reforms carried out under the leadership of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and aimed at ensuring Kazakhstan’s sustainable development and further enhancing its standing and influence on the international stage,” the President of Uzbekistan noted.

He also said Uzbekistan was sincerely pleased with the significant results of the large-scale transformations taking place in Kazakhstan, emphasizing the countries’ longstanding friendship and good-neighborly relations.

Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that close cooperation between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan would reach a new level within the framework of their strategic partnership and allied relations.

The Uzbek president wished Kassym-Jomart Tokayev good health, well-being and success in his public service, and the people of Kazakhstan peace and prosperity.

Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, also congratulated the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on the successful conduct of the first elections to Kazakhstan’s new parliament, the Qurultay.
