URGENT: Border security heightened after Arkankergen outpost incident
ASTANA. June 2. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan has strengthened the protection of the border with China after the incident at the outpost Arkankergen in Almaty region.
"Checkpoints have been set up throughout the area. Border security has been strengthened. Investigative group, headed by the military procuracy is working at the scene. It also includes representatives from the Interior Ministry, Border Guard, National Security Committee, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Justice," a Khabar correspondent reports.
At the moment it is known that the remains of 14 bodies were found in the burnt barracks. According to the representatives of the National Security Committee, the building was old and wooden and burned almost instantly. The body of the huntsman was found in the forester house near the border post. The search for another border guard continues. The operational-investigation group does not hurry to put forward versions yet.
"The following expertise has been appointed: genomic expertise, criminalistic examination, fire-technical expertise to determine the causes of fire. All the remains of bodies were sent to Astana for genomic examination and subsequent identification of their origin. All 15 machine guns of the border guards were found and sent to the crime lab. In addition, the search for horses that were at the outpost is underway. There were six horses at the outpost," Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee, director of the Border Service Nurzhan Myrzaliyev said.
