Upcoming Qurultay elections mark new stage of Kazakhstan’s development, Karin

Kazakhstan continues implementing the provisions of its new Constitution, adopted by the nationwide referendum held this March, State Counselor Yerlan Karin said, Qazinform News Agency reports.

He noted on May 8, Parliament’s Chambers reviewed three draft constitutional laws in their first reading, including the new edition of the Constitutional Law “On the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan” consisting of 8 chapters, 43 articles, the new edition of the Constitutional Law “On the Qurultay of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Status of its Deputies” containing 12 chapters, 60 articles and amendments to the Constitutional Law “On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan.”

He emphasized the changes are aimed at adaptation of existing legislation to the new Constitution, institutional renewal of the state-political model, and establishing a systematic legal foundation for further political modernization.

Karin emphasized that the harmonization of legislation and the upcoming Qurultay elections symbolize the beginning of a new stage in Kazakhstan’s development, based on the constitutional principles and values of a Fair Kazakhstan.

As written before, the Kazakh Parliament on Friday approved the draft Constitutional law on the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the first reading.
