UN allocates $250,000 to support «Promotion of accountability of NGOs in Kazakhstan» project
ALMATY. November 26. KAZINFORM - Confidence in the effectiveness of NGOs and civil society will rise significantly while ensuring transparency of their activity via accountability mechanisms not only to government agencies, fiscal institutions, donors but also to the beneficiaries, this has been reported today by the representatives of the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) who together with civil society activists told about the transparency and accountability of NGOs and shared information about the implementation of "Promoting accountability of NGOs in Kazakhstan" project carried out with the financial support of the UN Democracy Fund.
According to the organizers the project is planned to improve the sustainability and efficiency of NGOs by introducing mechanisms and principles of accountability to beneficiaries, NGOs and other concerned parties.
At this stage of the project there has been developed and published "Guidelines for NGO accountability to beneficiaries" in the Kazakh and Russian languages. "In addition we conducted training for 18 specialists from all over Kazakhstan who will provide coursework for NGOs in their regions thereby covering more than 450 people", said Gauhar Nursha, the manager of "Promoting accountability of NGOs in Kazakhstan" project.
