Turkish politician hails Qurultay elections as historic
Kürşad Zorlu, Vice Chairman of Türkiye's Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and Head of Relations with Turkic States, has congratulated Kazakhstan on its parliamentary elections, Qazinform News Agency's Ankara correspondent reports.
Kürşad Zorlu extended his congratulations to the brotherly Kazakh people and the entire Turkic world on the elections to the Qurultay.
In his statement, the Turkish politician noted the preliminary election results and congratulated the parties that secured representation in the Qurultay.
According to Zorlu, the new political landscape taking shape after the elections is of utmost importance not only for Kazakhstan but for the entire Turkic world. He noted that Kazakhstan's legislative body will convene for the first time in centuries under the historic name "Qurultay," a title rooted in the political traditions of Turkic peoples.
Kürşad Zorlu highlighted Kazakhstan's transition to a unicameral parliamentary system and expressed confidence in the continued development of interparliamentary ties and cooperation between Kazakhstan and Türkiye.
"Qurultay in the political tradition of Turkic states is one of the most vivid symbols of justice, counsel, collective deliberation, and the expression of the people's will," the Turkish politician emphasized.
Zorlu expressed his confidence that this historic step will give new momentum to Kazakhstan's democratic development and the strengthening of Turkic world integration.
Concluding his congratulations, Kürşad Zorlu wished Kazakhstan continued success with the call "Alğa, Qazaqstan!" (Onward, Kazakhstan!).
Earlier, OSCE/ODIHR commended the professional organization of elections in Kazakhstan.
