Tokayev says new Constitution was written for benefit of younger generation

Kazakhstan’s school students have won more than 1,000 medals, including over 200 gold medals, at international academic competitions and scientific contests this year, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during a meeting with school and university students - winners and prize-medalists of international Olympiads, at Akorda.

According to the president, Kazakhstani students took part in 44 international Olympiads and scientific competitions during the year, achieving what he described as an outstanding result.

Tokayev singled out Kazakhstan’s performance at the International Physics Olympiad, where all five members of the country’s team won gold medals and were named winners of the competition.

This is an unprecedented and unique result. We should strive for such high achievements in all areas, and the potential of Kazakhstan’s young people makes it fully possible to achieve this, Tokayev said.

The president also spoke about the historic transformations taking place in Kazakhstan, emphasizing recent constitutional and political reforms.

By coming together as one country and one people, we have carried out large-scale reforms. A new Constitution has been adopted. In the main document of our country, priority is given to science, education and innovation, Tokayev said.

He stressed that the new Constitution was developed with the interests of the younger generation in mind.

Most importantly, the new Constitution was written for the benefit of the younger generation, the president said.

Tokayev also highlighted the first elections to the Qurultay, which were held the previous day.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that these elections were successfully and flawlessly organized, he said.

The president thanked Kazakhstan’s citizens for their participation in the elections and their support for the country’s reform agenda.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all our people for their civic engagement and support for our strategy of renewal, Tokayev said.

He also expressed appreciation to the election observers, including international representatives, who monitored the voting process.

A group of observers, including international observers, worked very effectively during the elections. I express my deep gratitude to them. In addition, the extensive work carried out by the members of the Central Election Commission deserves high praise, Tokayev said.
