SYPYRA ZHYRAU

SYPYRA ZHYRAU (XIV century), a poet, improvisator, lived in the times of Toktamys and Yedige.
His name is often mentioned in legends of batyrs. Sypyra Zhyrau devoted his life to poetry. His poems ?Yedige bi?, ?Toktamys khannyn khikayaty? (?History of Toktamys khan?) are very famous.
In ?Telagys? legend he was represented as an advocate of people?s unity, in ?Kubygul? poem he is a 180-year-old wise man.
Sypyra zhyrau?s creativity holds a special place in the Turkic literature.
