South Korea is Kazakhstan's key strategic partner in East Asia - MP

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea led by deputy head of the inter-parliamentary group on cooperation "The Republic of Korea - the Republic of Kazakhstan" Chang Yoon Seok visited Astana on March 26.

Speaker of Majilis, the lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament, Kabibulla Dzhakupov received the delegation, the chamber's press service informs. "Over the past 23 years since our countries forged diplomatic ties, the Republic of Korea has become one of Kazakhstan's key strategic partners in East Asia," Mr. Dzhakupov said greeting his Korean colleagues. "The two-way trade volume has soared to more than $2 billion over the past year. There are more than 800 joint ventures in Kazakhstan with the participation of Korean capital," he added. In this context, the Majilis Speaker urged Korean businessmen to step up their participation in the industrial and innovative projects in Kazakhstan within the framework of the Nurly zhol - Path to the Future economic policy. Besides, Korean companies were invited to take an active part in the EXPO 2017 event in Astana. Speaker Dzhakupov also stressed that business in Kazakhstan develops successfully mainly due to favorable investment climate and inter-ethnic accord. He went on to say that the newly established Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) offers vast opportunities to Korean companies working in Kazakhstan. The EEU has an integrated single market of more than 170 million people. During their discussion, Chang Yoon Seok who was in Astana for the first time said he was amazed by the young capital of Kazakhstan and praised dynamic development of the republic. Speaker Dzhakupov responded by inviting Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Chung Ui-hwa to visit Kazakhstan.
