Shymkent opens exhibition to mark 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate (PHOTO)
SHYMKENT. KAZINFORM - Shymkent Museum of Fine Arts has opened an unusual exhibition devoted to the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate.
The works of art tell about the formation of the Kazakh Khanate, batyrs (Kazakh warriors) and zhyrau (poets), about the life of nomads. "100 works of Shymkent, Aktau, Astana, Pavlodar, Karaganda, Kyzylorda artists are presented in the great hall of the museum," said the director Ainabek Ospanov. There are oil, tapestry and even leather paintings. The exhibition will run for two months. Meanwhile, the neighboring hall represents to visitors rare paintings. "These paintings were given to us by the History Museum. They have been collected since 1939 and preserved in its original form. Here are pictures of famous painters of 20-21 centuries," said Ainabek Ospanov. The most unusual hall is a Glass hall which performs a photo exhibition dedicated to the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan. It is worth noting that the Museum of Fine Arts was put into operation a short time ago. Its area is 2,400 square meters. The museum has 755 paintings. In the near future the museum will hold exhibitions of painters from Germany, Russia and India.
