Senate OKs security cooperation deal with Caspian states
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the plenary session has adopted the Law "On ratification of the agreement on Security Cooperation in the Caspian Sea."
"Agreement is determined to ensure security in the Caspian Sea - is a prerogative of the Caspian states. In this regard coastal states identified the following areas of cooperation: fight against terrorism, organized crime, illicit trafficking in arms and drugs, money laundering, smuggling and poaching, human trafficking and illegal migration", said the director of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan Nurlan Zholamanov presenting the law. Moreover, littoral states will cooperate in the field of shipping and navigation. The agreement has been ratified by all the Caspian states, except for Iran and Kazakhstan. Agreement was concluded in Baku on 18 November 2010.
