Seminar in Almaty to eye global experience in anti-corruption

ALMATY. December 23. KAZINFORM A round table themed "Anti-corruption policy: global experience and Kazakhstan" organized by the Institute of Economy under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be held in Almaty on December 27.

Launched as part of the "New principles of social policy and public administration" program, the seminar will focus on comprehensive discussion of the international experience in anti-corruption and finding news methods and tools to implement that experience in Kazakhstan. Participants are also expected to eye a wide range of issues on the models of formation and development of corruption in the world; organizational and economic measures to fight corruption; prospects of improving the anti-corruption legislation in Kazakhstan.


Representatives of the Kazakh Parliament, the Center of Financial Misconduct Investigation under the Calculating Committee of Kazakhstan, the Eurasian Scientists' Economic Club, eminent financial experts and economists, foreign specialists are to attend the seminar.

According to the Transparency International, Kazakhstan has gone seven spots down in the Corruption Perception Index 2013 in comparison with last year and is ranked 140th. It shares the spot with such countries as Honduras, Laos, and Uganda. Denmark and New Zealand are at the top of the index. Finland, Sweden, Norway, Singapore, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada and Germany are also highly ranked.
