Saudi Arabia and Uruguay draw in World Cup 2026 Group H opener

The national teams of Saudi Arabia and Uruguay drew 1-1 in the first round of Group H, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing FIFA.
Saudi defender Abdulelah Al-Amri broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, scoring on a rebound. The team held the lead for most of the match and came close to a sensational victory.
Uruguay responded after the break, piling on pressure and finally getting the equalizer in the 80th. Federico Viñas’ header forced a rebound, which Maxi Araújo pounced on to level the score.
Previously, it was reported that Spain was held to a shock 0-0 draw by Cape Verde in their opening Group H match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
