Representatives of defense ministries discussed peacekeeping activity issues in Dushanbe

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Peculiarities of peacekeeping operations, factors defining the ability of a state to begin and carry out peacekeeping activities were among the issues addressed at a dialogue platform organized in Tajikistan that brought together representatives of the defense sectors of several countries, the press service of the Kazakh Defense Ministry informs.

The best practices of foreign countries in this sphere are of special interest for Kazakhstan. Therefore, representatives of the airmobile forces of the Army of Kazakhstan, headquarters of the commander-in-chief of the ground forces of Kazakhstan, members of the department for international cooperation of the Defense Ministry of Kazakhstan took part in the discussions along with specialists from the USA, Germany, Mongolia and Tajikistan. Kazakhstan peacekeeping activity includes participation of officers of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan as observers in peacekeeping missions in Haiti, Cote d'Ivoire, Liberia and Western Sahara. Presently, three Kazakhstani officers participate in the missions. Besides, the peacekeeping exercises "Steppe Eagle" are held in the territory of the country annually.
