Pre-trial investigation launched following explosion at Kazzinc in Ust-Kamenogorsk
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated following the incident at the Kazzinc plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Qazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
According to the East Kazakhstan regional police department, a criminal case has been launched regarding violation of labor safety rules resulting in the negligent death of two or more people.
An investigation is currently underway, with forensic examinations scheduled to establish the full circumstances of the incident, stated the department.
The investigation will include a legal review of actions taken by those in charge and an assessment of compliance with occupational safety regulations at the site.
To note, an explosion occurred this morning at the enterprise's metallurgical site, followed by a fire and partial structural collapse. The incident left two people dead, and five others sustained injuries of varying severity
Emergency responders and specialists are on-site, with a dedicated commission initiated to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incidentю
