PM Bektenov orders launch of new railway lines by November
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov set a task to launch train services on the new Darbaza-Maktaaral and Moiynty-Kyzylzhar railway lines by November 2026, Qazinform News Agency reports.
He said it at the weekly Government meeting today.
According to him, the projects are being implemented in line with the President’s directive and must be completed within the current year.
“It is necessary to launch traffic on these lines in November this year. Opening the new routes will transit shipments growth to 55 million tons this year. This is currently one of the main tasks for the Ministry of Transport and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy,” Bektenov said.
The Prime Minister also approved the proposed 3-year plan for the railway industry development. At the same time, he instructed the Ministry of Transport, the Samruk-Kazyna Fund, and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy to immediately begin preparing technical documentation and determine sources of financing for prospective infrastructure projects.
He said that further development of railway infrastructure must take into account projected growth in freight flows, transit traffic, and the long-term needs of the economy.
