A total of 195 out of the 199 members of parliament cast votes, with 140 in favor, 54 against and 1 abstentions.

Magyar, who leads the Tisza Party, secured the required majority, beginning his four-year term.

In his inaugural speech, Magyar pledged not only to change the government but to “change the system.” He emphasized reconciliation, democratic renewal, and national unity. According to him, the new Tisza government "will be the government of all Hungarians." He also highlighted inclusiveness and equal dignity for all citizens.

In the April 12 parliamentary elections, the Tisza Party defeated the ruling Fidesz-KDNP coalition led by Viktor Orbán. The party won 141 of 199 seats, securing a two-thirds majority in parliament.

Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Tuesday congratulated Peter Magyar on his victory in the parliamentary elections in Hungary.
