Paris Olympics: Ekaterina Shabalina fails in Triathlon Women's Individual event
Today, July 31, Kazakhstani Ekaterina Shabalina competed in the Triathlon Women's Individual event at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Shabalina failed to complete the distance.
Earlier, Ekaterina Shabalina was selected for the Olympic Games based on her ranking. Mass media reported that the triathlon may be held in a duathlon format (cycling and running, with no swimming). However, the women's triathlon final event took place today.
It bears to remind that on Sunday, the organizers canceled the scheduled training of athletes in triathlon on the river. However, the organizing committee is confident that the competitions can be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Triathlon Men's Individual, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, has been postponed until Wednesday.
Mariya Dmitriyenko in Trap Women's Qualification and Karimi Milad in Artistic Gymnastics Men's All-Around Final, are expected to represent Kazakhstan in their respective events in Paris today.
The medal winners in eleven sports, including swimming, diving, fencing, artistic gymnastics, canoe slalom, cycling BMX freestyle, rowing, shooting, sailing and triathlon will be announced.
To date, Kazakhstan has hauled three medals.
Recall that Kazakhstan’s Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev claimed bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team competition.
Judoka Yeldos Smetov claimed Kazakhstan’s first gold medal in judo. He won silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics and bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
Judoka Gusman Kyrgyzbayev won bronze medal of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on July 28. He defeated Strahinja Bunčić from Serbia in men’s 66kg.
