Our country chooses progress in life-changing situations, says Tokayev
The large-scale political changes the country carried out allowed it to set a new vector in its democratic development, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
The constitutional reform allowed to reshape the key power institutions, leading to a stable political system, which is based on openness and justice, efficiency and competition, and, most of all, the principles of service specifically to the people, not a slim segment of people, whose interests are far from the interests of the country.
According to him, thanks to these values the fundamental shifts occurred in the social and political life of the country.
A clear demonstration of this was the results of the recent referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant, with over 70% of the citizens voted for its construction. Such a decision proved that our nation chooses progress in life-changing situations. One of the key tenets of our state policy is ‘different opinions – single nation’. In general, the problem of growing energy deficiency is extremely relevant for our country. If not addressed in a timely manner, it will slow down economic development and reduce the standard of life of our citizens, said Tokayev.
The Kazakh leader also spoke about the large-scale work underway in the county as part of its Just Kazakhstan course.
In fact, the new energy, transport and industrial framework of the county is being established. Five years ago, I instructed to build a bridge across the Bukhtarma reservoir… The bridge is now the longest one in Kazakhstan, which allowed to turn border areas into transit ones, providing a short transit corridor between China and Russia, said the Kazakh President.
Tokayev pointed out that 12 thousand kilometers of road are under construction and reconstruction. Certain work is ongoing in the field of air traffic, with new international terminals are to be opened at airports in Kyzylorda and Shymkent soon.
In addition, Tokayev spoke about the comprehensive measures aimed at diversifying the economy. In 8 months of this year, the country’s manufacturing exports surpassed 17.8 billion US dollars, with the high-value added products accounting for a third. Currently, the country is carrying out 17 breakthrough investment projects.
To note, Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed the solemn ceremony of presenting state awards held ahead of the Day of Republic, the country marks on October 25.
