Oil and gas production resumes at Kashagan field
According to the Kazakh Ministry of Energy, the Kashagan field has been entirely refurbished and restored to its optimal operational capacity ahead of schedule, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The Ministry of Energy has announced that the Kashagan field has been fully overhauled as well as oil and gas production has resumed.
The ministry added that production has commenced, although not yet at full capacity.
“As of November 1, the facility will be operating at full capacity,” the ministry stated.
It should be noted that the repair works at the field commenced on October 7 and were scheduled to last for a period of 30 days.
Kashagan is the largest oil and gas field in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea. It is located 80 kilometers south-west of the city of Atyrau and encompasses an area of 3,375 kilometers. The reservoir of the field is located at a depth of approximately 4,200 meters below the seabed in its northern part.
