Number of injured in Kazzinc explosion in Ust-Kamenogorsk rises to nine

According to preliminary data, two of the injured were taken to a hospital in critical condition. Another person was receiving resuscitation measures at the scene, while one more victim was transported to a medical facility by the employees, of the plant, Ust Kamenogorsk healthcare department said.

Five ambulance crews are currently working at the scene. The condition of the remaining people is being verified.

The incident occurred on the morning of May 5, when a dust-collecting unit at the Kazzinc plant reportedly exploded, causing a fire and partial structural collapse.

Environmental specialists are conducting urgent air quality measurements following the explosion.
