The first-stage complex was launched by the Ortalyk Mining Enterprise, becoming the company’s second production asset.

The launch ceremony was attended by Gumar Sergazin, deputy chairman of Kazakhstan’s Nuclear Energy Agency; Kuanysh Omarbekov, chief production director at Kazatomprom; Aidyn Beisenbekov, director general at Ortalyk Mining Enterprise; and employees of the mine.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sergazin emphasized the importance of developing uranium-mining operations and systematically developing new deposits to strengthen Kazakhstan’s mineral resource base.

The new stage of development of the Zhalpak mine will increase the enterprise’s production capacity and contribute to the development of Kazakhstan’s nuclear industry, said Sergazin.

The project is expected to expand in several stages, with plans to increase the capacity of the mine’s surface processing complex to 900 tons of uranium per year.

Earlier, Qazinform reported in 2025, sales of Kazakhstani uranium increased by 11%, reaching 18,500 tons.
