Nearly 2,000 twins and 54 triplets born in Kazakhstan this year
1,926 twins and 54 triplets were born this January-April in Kazakhstan, Qazinform News Agency cites the National Statistics Bureau.
No cases of quadruplets were recorded during this period.
The highest number of 263 sets of twins was born in Turkistan region, followed by 245 in Almaty city and 175 in Almaty region.
Turkistan and Atyrau regions, as well as Shymkent, each welcomed 3 sets of triplets so far.
Total births in Kazakhstan in January–April this year reached 99,400.
The highest birth rates were recorded in Turkistan region with 19.75 per 1,000 population, Shymkent city — 19.39, Mangistau region — 19.28.
As written before, a 32‑year‑old woman gave birth to three baby girls in Kyzylorda region, marking the first triplets born in the region this year.
