N. Nazarbayev visits innovative exhibition in KazNU

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has visited the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi where he got acquainted with the achievements and future plans of the institution.

Rector of the KazNU, academician Galim Mutanov told the President about the implementation of projects aimed at the creation of biomedical and innovation clusters. The projects involved foreign investments in the amount of $500 million. The purpose of the biomedical cluster is the development of scientific and human resources potential of the country, expansion of international cooperation, transfer of innovative medical technologies, as well as integration of research and education activities. Another large-scale project of the university is the establishment of an innovation cluster "Engineering and science-intensive technology", which has being implemented in partnership with "Alatau" Park of Innovative Technologies. 9.5 billion tenge will be invested in the construction of industrial parks, business incubators, industrial center, laboratory buildings and comfortable hostel for students and young scientists. KazNU is the oldest classical university of the Republic established by the Decree of the Kazakh Regional Committee office dated November 13, 1933.
