Modern radiotherapy center opens its doors in Almaty

An opening of the modern Radiotherapy  Center at the Kazakh Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology in Almaty is a significant step forward in the provision of high-quality oncological care and the availability of advanced diagnostic methods and treatment for patients, Kazinform News Agency has learned from the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Healthcare.

The center is equipped with the ip-to-date radiotherapy devices, including new generation linear accelerators and a computed tomography (CT) scanner, purchased with the financial support of Qazaqstan Khalkyna Fund.

Minister of Healthcare Akmaral Alnazarova underscored the significance of accurate diagnosis with the use of cutting-edge equipment, which, in general, enhances the effectiveness of treatment for patients with malignant tumors.

32 units of radiotherapy equipment, with additional six tomotherapy machines are used in the country’s clinics.

Recall that a total of 5,491 patients had been diagnosed with malignant neoplasms in Almaty by the end of 2023. Nurlan Baltayev, the head of the surgical service at the Almaty Cancer Center, spoke on differences between cancer treatment in Kazakhstan and abroad.
